Great day for all classes.  470 and 3xLasers, have done 4 races.  SSW started to build up from 4kt to 18kt – getting stronger and stronger each race.  Matsunaga/Yoshida had 3 bullets again and 2nd.  Matsunaga explains his race today,  ‘Left side was the way to go most of the day, except for the last race.  Both Ichino and

Mrs. Ai Yoshida had a bad start, and had to tack away to the right side, but they were 1st and 2nd at the top mark.  Ichino managed to finish 1st, and we were 2nd.  We are quite happy with our boat speed under this condition – lots of waves.’

Lee Jinwan from Korea won all 4 races.  18 year old KOR boy enjoyed good hiking condition, and worked hard to achieve this results.  JPN needs more young Laser sailors as keen as Lee Jinwan.

Laser Radial Class saw Manami Doi dominated whole day.  Like Matsunaga, she gains a lot during the downwind leg.  Many young sailors tried to match Manami, but she hiked harder, and worked harder downwind.  Yuichiro Kitamura managed to beat her.

49er and FX had two races.  5 entries for 49er, and 3 entries for FX.  Yano, the youngest 49er sailor, tried to sail the boat like his 29er.

The wind was probably OK, but the waves got bigger before the 2nd race, and it was difficult to handle the 49er then.  For Makino (49er) and Hatae (FX) it was ok to sail, but other teams had lots of capsizes and did not finish the race.  However, we believe it is the start, and it is great to see 3 FX on the water together racing.

After the racing, big party was organized with all sailors and race committee.  Kenji, the coach, explained some starting technique, then, Northsails Japan showed the tracking of today.  Good food, drinking, and happy dancing performance by Junpei Hokazono who beat Matsunaga today as a crew of Ichino.
